I’m Natalie Kim. I spent the last 10 years in advertising, most recently as Director of Strategy at Firstborn in New York City, where I helped build and lead the strategy team. I’ve partnered with clients such as L'Oreal, HBO, S&P Global, Vonage, Coca-Cola and Bacardi. You can find me on Forbes' "30 Under 30" list in Marketing & Advertising, and among She Runs It's GenNext Award honorees—women ages 25-35 who're already making their mark on the industry. In 2018, I was named by The Drum as one of 70+ women of color who should be speaking at marketing conferences.

In 2015, I was the Director of Strategy at Firstborn. In my role, I started guest lecturing at universities all over the country.

When I talked with students, I immediately felt their high levels of anxiety, fear, and confusion when it came to joining the advertising and marketing industry. It didn’t matter what kind of program it was—the emotions were universal.

Looking at the what was being provided by the industry to support young talent, I found it was limited to one-on-one mentorship and internship pipeline programs. While incredibly important, these resources couldn’t scale to benefit every student in search of guidance.

We are Next was started to support young talent at a critical point in their careers, while giving the industry an outlet to pass along its advice, perspectives, and guidance.
